She/her

“I don’t believe you have to feel differently before you deserve compassion. You are worthy, always.”

WHO I help

When the words come out wrong. Or don’t come at all.

Sometimes trying to explain makes things feel lonelier. The words don’t quite capture what’s happening, someone misunderstands, and another attempt to reach out ends with feeling no closer to being understood. Crystal works with adults whose familiar ways of coping are no longer helping, whether they’re dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, burnout or the effects of past experiences.

For couples, it might be the distance that’s grown between them, conversations that keep going wrong, or the hurt following infidelity. The relationship matters. They want to find their way back to each other, but their attempts to connect aren’t getting them there.

She also works with families navigating change, including blended families, and parents who struggle to agree on how to respond to their children. Different rules become arguments between adults. Home feels unsettled. Underneath the conflict, Crystal is interested in people’s need to feel secure, accepted and part of something.

“I don’t believe one person’s struggles are more worthy of compassion than another’s. Pain is absolute to the person who is feeling it.”

how i work

Warm, curious, and willing to say she doesn’t know.

Crystal brings warmth and compassion, without pretending to have all the answers. The starting point is understanding how life looks from the client’s perspective and what matters most to them. There’s room for the things that are difficult to explain, as well as the things they already know they want to change.

Her approach is integrative. CBT and ACT can help clients explore familiar thoughts and responses, while her work with couples draws on the Gottman Method to look at how they communicate and connect. With families, she pays attention to the patterns between people and the ways each person’s responses affect the others.

Over time, the work combines understanding with practical skills: noticing a pattern, considering another response, and trying something different. Crystal holds a steady belief that past experiences and behaviour don’t permanently define a person. There is room to make different choices, even when the old ones have become very familiar.

“I believe people are not permanently defined by their past experiences or behaviours. They have the capacity to choose differently.”

It's nice to meet you!

Loves line dancing. Retired from snowboarding after one ski lift.

Crystal’s reason for doing this work is simple: she loves humans and hates seeing people suffer. Running gives her fresh air and uninterrupted time to think, while her quieter surprises are a dry sense of humour and a love of line dancing. Raised on a dirt road in a tiny desert town, she makes no claims to grace on wheels or snow: her first snowboarding attempt ended with a fall getting off the ski lift and an ambulance ride down the mountain.
