WHO I help
For people who’ve got used to working around the pain.
Getting out of the car carefully. Turning the whole body to look over a shoulder. Thinking twice before picking up a child. Many of the adults Melody sees have been working around a stiff back, a tight neck or an old injury for months, sometimes years. They’re still getting things done, but ordinary movements take more thought than they used to.
From the outside, they look capable and reliable. They’re managing work, looking after others and keeping going. Underneath, they may be sleeping badly, bracing through the day or quietly giving up walks and activities they enjoy. Some have become so used to feeling uncomfortable that they’ve stopped mentioning it.
Melody welcomes people at every stage of life, from babies and children to expectant mothers, parents and grandparents. She often sees several members of the same family. Some arrive unsure about chiropractic or worried that treatment will be forceful. They want someone who will listen carefully, explain things clearly and take their concerns seriously. Having previously worked with Deaf children, Melody can also communicate in British Sign Language (BSL). Deaf clients and family members are very welcome, and BSL can be used during appointments.
“People usually arrive talking about a sore spot. I want to understand how they’re moving as a whole, and what’s been going on in their life.”
how i work
Gentle, attentive, and clear about what happens next.
Melody starts with a conversation and an assessment: what has been happening, what matters to the person and what they would like help with. She explains what she’s doing as she goes. There is time to ask questions, and clients can pause at any point. Sessions are calm and focused, with room for someone to feel nervous without having to hide it.
Her chiropractic work is gentle and shaped around the individual. She also draws on craniosacral techniques, alongside practical guidance on posture, breathing and movement to use at home. Years spent painting have influenced how she pays attention: looking closely, noticing patterns and staying curious about details that might otherwise be missed.
Over time, the work includes noticing when tension builds, which movements feel easier and what helps between appointments. Melody reviews progress with each client and adjusts the approach with them. Some choose a short course of care; others return from time to time. Her aim is to help people understand their bodies better and feel more confident about what they need.
“I don’t believe change has to be dramatic or happen all at once. Often it starts with something small.”
It's nice to meet you!
Painter. Wild swimmer. Still getting lost on familiar roads.
Melody had been a painter for years when a job as a chiropractic assistant opened up an unexpected second career, followed by five years of training. Away from work, she’s painting, wild swimming in Devon or heading off in her campervan. Her curiosity takes her from ancient history to wildflower names; her sense of direction can let her down somewhere she’s visited a dozen times.
